Frontex Standing Corps — common questions

What is the Frontex Standing Corps?

The European Border and Coast Guard Standing Corps is the EU's first uniformed law enforcement service. It supports Member States in border management, return operations, and the fight against cross-border crime. Established under Regulation (EU) 2019/1896.

What does the selection consist of?

Computer-based Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) tests covering EU legislation related to Frontex, EU institutions and bodies, fundamental rights in law enforcement, professionalism and integrity, and ICT for the Standing Corps. Followed by short-answer and scenario-based exercises, then a psychological assessment (online interview) and a competency-based interview. Each stage is eliminatory.

Who can apply?

Nationals of EU Member States and Schengen Associated Countries. Each vacancy notice (RCT-…) specifies the exact eligibility — grade, experience, fitness requirements where relevant. English at B2 level (CEFR) is required across all categories.

Is the Frontex-specific bank already live?

Yes. Our first 60 Frontex field questions are live now, each anchored to a specific article of EU law — EBCG Regulation 2019/1896, Schengen Borders Code, Return Directive, Reg 656/2014 on maritime operations, Charter of Fundamental Rights, asylum at the border (Directive 2013/32/EU), data protection (Reg 2018/1725), and the ICT systems used at the border (SIS, EES, ETIAS, FADO). The bank keeps growing — new modules ship in rolling releases. Sign up above to be notified when each new module ships.

Is Frontex selection run by EPSO?

No. Frontex runs its own selection process through its recruitment microsite (microsite.frontex.europa.eu). The format and topics are different from EPSO competitions — but Verbal Reasoning, EU Institutional Knowledge, and the open-ended written exercise rubric overlap, which is why our existing platform already covers a meaningful share of the prep.

Where do I find the official vacancy notices?

The Frontex recruitment microsite at microsite.frontex.europa.eu/en/recruitments/ lists every open call (each with an RCT-… reference) and includes the full notice with selection process, test format, and timeline.
